Who do decomposers benefit?..... EVERYONE!
Imagine a dead plant falling in a forest, or lizard that dies of old age, bird a bird that was shot out of the sky, or a fish that ingested too much pollution to survive. Now imagine that dead organism staying completely intact on the floor of the environment forever! This is exactly what would happen if there were no decomposers around to clean up these messes. Not only do decomposers clean up the scraps of dead plants and animals, but they turn the dead into the nutrients needed to grow new and healthy plants. Whether it be in the sea, in a desert, in a swam, or on a prairie, the decomposers are what keep the chain going long after the dead are gone. Decomposers bring fresh new life to an ever-changing chain.
